ECFC Fall 2020 Study Tour: Detroit & Flint, MI
October 5-7, 2020
In October, ECFC’s Fall Member Study Tour will take us to Detroit and Flint, Michigan where we will explore the intersections of public health and economic development with early childhood, while considering the weight of history – how places come to be what they are and how history and culture shape our work in communities. We will have the opportunity to see first hand how The Kresge Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and other Michigan early childhood funders are engaging families, businesses, child education and health experts, and the larger community through Hope Starts Here in creating a vision to ensure that children are born healthy, prepared for kindergarten, and on track for success by third grade and beyond. We will also continue to weave a racial equity lens to our discussions.
Tentative study tour framework:
- Sunday 10/4 – tentative evening networking reception
- Monday 10/5 – site visit/full day of programming
- Tuesday 10/6 – site visit/full day of programming
- Wednesday 10/7 – tentative morning programming
The Origins of the Urban Crisis, intersects strife of labor and corporations, disregarding cities when they are done.
Registration will be available for the Fall Study Tour in July. In the meantime, please contact ECFC with questions.
