Want to Support Your Community’s Equitable Recovery from COVID-19? Invest in Child Care

 

 

During the COVID-19 crisis, local philanthropy has an essential role to play in bolstering a pillar of their local economies: child care. Two immediate ways they can do this: offer direct emergency funding paired with local advocacy and help providers navigate the hurdles to securing and gaining access to new public support.

 

In a new article from The Bridgespan Group , co-authored by ECFC Executive Director, Shannon Rudisill, funders are encourage to support their community’s equitable recovery from COVID-19 by investing in child care.

The article discusses the extent of the crisis for child care, the fragility of the child care system exposed by the pandemic, and the role of funders over the next few weeks or months.  Specific strategies and trusted resources are provided for funders to stay up to date, with considerations for funders who may not have supported early childhood organizations in the past.
